Kazakhstan to develop rare earth metal deposits in Karaganda

Tau-Ken Samruk, the national mining company of Kazakhstan, recently announced that it is preparing to develop the Kuirektykol rare earth metal deposit in the Karaganda region in the central part of the country.
Preliminary exploration of the mine began in 2022 and ended in November 2024. Explorers found commercially viable concentrations of rare earth elements, including cerium and lanthanides, in an area of ​​64.2 square kilometers, identified four promising areas, with a total resource estimate of 935,400 tons and proven reserves of 795,800 tons. Preliminary data indicate that reserves could double with further exploration.
