China may relax rare earth export restrictions on Chinese and European semiconductor companies and other companies in their supply chains, according to official media reports on May 28. The day before, China’s Ministry of Commerce hosted a meeting of China-Europe semiconductor companies to discuss rare earth control issues, and Chinese officials explained the application process at the meeting.
In April this year, China included seven rare earths and related products on the export control list, and all exporters must apply for licenses regardless of the nationality of overseas customers.
